We teach a widely recognised Shotokan karate syllabus that follows the belt system. Each level or belt requires the demonstration of a specific syllabus in a grading examination. Gradings are held every term and you can purchase "The Shotokan Karate Bible" that covers each level.
The structure of the syllabus allows students to progress through the ranks at their own pace. Ungraded beginners wear a white belt. After about 3 months training, a grading exam can be taken. If passed, the student goes from 10th Kyu to 9th Kyu and wears an orange belt. This system continues all the way up to 1st Dan, black belt. Training consistently for about 3 to 4 years can lead to black belt qualification. For booking a black belt grading please see the black belt grading page
Belts are available on sale after the grading.
Please ensure that in addition to training in class, you have studied the syllabus in the Shotokan Karate Bible.
- Grading examinations are only open to Just Karate members.
- When booking via paypal, please ensure that it is clear what the names of the students being booked in are. Please use the "Instructions to merchant" field as necessary.
